Fill empty stores

San Luis ObispoFebruary 18, 2014

I’ve been wanting to make a comment about the vacancies in the Marigold Center for a long time. I can’t delay anymore now that Cugini’s is leaving.

My first reaction was, “Are you kidding me? How could the owners or managers let Cugini’s go?”

Second thought was, “Where is their good judgment?”

There were 12 empty spaces that I counted last year. Some can be double spaces. Why can’t the owners get more tenants?

There are new buildings going up all around town. Some are leased before they are finished, like several on Osos Street. Why can’t the landowners lease more spaces?

They should be embarrassed instead of saying that it “maintains a very good dialog with ... tenants.”

They have a 94 percent occupancy rate at their other properties. That is hard to believe looking at the Marigold Center. They should be ashamed.
