The CIF-Southern Section boys and girls soccer playoff brackets were announced Monday, with eight San Luis Obispo County teams earning spots, including five who will host opening-round or wild-card matches.
The Templeton, Paso Robles and Arroyo Grande boys teams will play in wild-card rounds today at 3 p.m. Templeton (8-11-2) hosts Lancaster’s Eastside (10-6-6) in the Division 3 playoffs, while the Bearcats (12-11-0) travel to Nogales (13-6-2) and Arroyo Grande (14-6-2) heads to Los Amigos (12-3-2) in Division 5 action.
PAC 7 co-champion San Luis Obispo (17-3-3) will host a first-round match Thursday at 3 p.m. The Tigers await the winner of Tuesday’s wild-card game between Windward (12-6-1) and Wilson/Hacienda Heights (8-8-2) in Los Angeles.
If Templeton advances, the Eagles would face Hueneme (9-2-4) — winner of the Pacific View league — Thursday. With a win, Paso Robles would move on to play Desert Sky champion Granite Hills (16-4-4), and Arroyo Grande would travel to Valle Vista champion Baldwin Park (16-4-1).
On the girls side, San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande and Atascadero each earned home matches in the Division 3 bracket. The Greyhounds (13-11-1) host Bishop Montgomery (12-9-2) in a wild-card contest Wednesday for the chance to play at No. 2 seed Los Altos (18-2-3) Friday.
The PAC 7 champion Eagles (15-4-4) welcome La Reina (8-8-3) — an at-large team from the Tri-Valley League — Friday afternoon. The Tigers (16-4-3) will host Crescenta Valley (9-9-2), which finished third in the Pacific League, Friday.
The Templeton girls (9-14-0) travel to Heritage Christian (8-10-3) Wednesday in the Division 5 wild-card round. The winner will travel to undefeated and Rio Hondo champion La Cañada (18-0-1) Friday.
Arroyo Grande boys basketball playoff game moved to Thursday
The opening-round CIF-Southern Section Division 2A boys basketball playoff game between host Arroyo Grande and Cerritos has been moved from Friday to Thursday.
The game, which still is set to begin at 7 p.m., was rescheduled at the request of Cerritos, the Eagles’ coaching staff said.
