Letter to the Editor

Climate change is here

AtascaderoFebruary 16, 2014

I’m sure mine is one of many letters written in response to the comments of council members Roberta Fonzi and Heather Moreno’s Viewpoint, (Climate change not settled science, Feb. 6). The need to respond is just too great. I accept all that was said in that Viewpoint as being true about how they think or believe, for whatever reason; the sad reality is they forgot to look out their windows.

Common sense is all we need now that 30 years of excessive fossil fuel use, stubbornness and greed have sent the carbon dioxide saturation of our atmosphere back to the level when dinosaurs walked the planet. I don’t need science to tell me that 7 billion human beings are stressing the planet. When will we stop the political denial, and placation of Big Oil and put all our forces to bear on solving the problem? Global climate change is here. I see your one scientist who agrees with your denial, and raise you thousands of others who don’t.

Stop gambling with the future of human civilization with these “my scientist is better than your scientist” games, read the drought headlines and get to work solving the problem. Replace fossil fuel with nuclear power: It’s all we’ve got.
