Share the responsibility

San Luis ObispoFebruary 16, 2014

To reduce cycle accidents, it seems to me both motorists and cyclists have a role to play.

Car and truck drivers need to keep an eye out for cyclists and give them extra space when they can. Cyclists need to follow the same rules of the road that apply to motorists. That means stopping at stop signs and red lights, signaling turns and not cutting across several lanes of traffic to save a few seconds.

In short, to help improve safety for all of us, I suggest posting new signs which read: “Share the Road, Share the Rules.”
