Cal Poly to host compost training

nwilson@thetribunenews.comFebruary 16, 2014

Cal Poly will host a five-day professional compost training workshop in March. The university’s Center of Sustainability in the College of Agriculture, Food & Environmental Services will hold the workshop March 24 to 28 at the Cal Poly Compost Unit.

The event will be made up of two parts: a four-day certificate-training program on large-scale composting followed by a one-day workshop. Participants may sign up for one of the two sessions, or both at a reduced cost.

The four-day course costs $450, which includes instructional materials and lunch.

A one-day session costing $150 will take place March 28 and provide information on research and uses of compost for growers at all scales of production — including nutrient management and soil health.

Registration for both courses is $500.

To register, call the Center for Sustainability at 756-5086 or email cfs@calpoly.edu  .
