Economy facts

AtascaderoFebruary 12, 2014

It appears that Beryl Bennett (Feb. 4.) has been drinking out of the same Kool-Aid glass as Paul Krugman, whose answer to everything is “we need to spend more money.” I ask you, how much is enough for you liberal spenders? We are collecting more revenue from taxes and fees than ever, and spending more on government programs than ever, and it still isn’t enough. Federal welfare spending has jumped 32 percent since Barack Obama took office.

You want facts? According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 2008 poverty was 13.2 percent (39.8 million) and 2011 poverty was 15.1 percent (46.2 million). In 2010, cost of the 185 federal means tested welfare programs was $700 billion, up a third since 2008. There are 39 states that pay more for welfare than the minimum wage. Since you can’t blame George Bush, I guess you have to blame Republicans, even though the first two years in office, Obama had a majority of Democrats in Congress, and could do what he wanted. All he did was ram through Obamacare, which is a total disaster.

I think people are tired of the “Hope and Change” and class warfare this administration has perpetuated on the American people.
