Trespassing hikers

Shell BeachFebruary 10, 2014

I disagree with Tarren Collins (Letters, Feb. 5). The property in question (Ontario Ridge) was fenced off and hikers broke the fence to get in.

Even with the new gate, they have found a way to get over that, too. I came across a shirt over the gate so they could avoid the barbed wire.

These people are trespassers, period. I hike when I can, I find that that there are a lot of walkers and hikers who disobey posted private property rules. How can you stop these hordes of trespassers? Why do people disobey the law so much here? Makes me want to move.
