Moreno, Williams hit home runs as Mustangs cruise to 9-2 win at Arizona State tourney

Lauren Moreno went 2 for 4 with a solo home run and three runs scored, Shea Williams also belted a solo homer, and Cal Poly’s softball team rolled to a 9-2 victory over Indiana on Sunday at the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.

Cal Poly’s Chloe Wurst (2-3) was the winning pitcher. She scattered six hits with one strikeout and one walk in a complete game.

Kim Westlund was 2 for 5 with two RBI for the Mustangs (2-3), and teammates Emily Ceccacci, Breana West and Cami Brown added two hits each.

Cal Poly wrestling drops two more meets

Senior Britain Longmire was the lone Cal Poly wrestler to win both his matches Sunday as the host Mustangs were swept in a triangular meet at Mott Athletics Center, 31-10 by South Dakota State and 24-9 by Stanford.

Longmire (13-12) went 2-0 at 125 pounds, winning an 8-2 decision over South Dakota State’s Ben Gillette and a 3-2 decision over Stanford’s Tommy Pawelski.

Cal Poly sunk to 3-8 overall in meets.
