The California Mid-State Fair is now seeking applications for its annual pageant.

According to a fair news release, contestants for the 2014 Miss California Mid-State Fair Pageant must be current San Luis Obispo County residents who are between the ages of 17 and 22 on the fair’s opening day, July 16, and have never been married.

Each candidate competes in five categories: interview, platform, talent, swimsuit and evening wear.

Those selected as the queen and princesses will receive prizes from local businesses, the fair said. They’ll also participate in various public events, including introducing performers, meeting with dignitaries and snapping pictures with visitors.

Last year, 18-year-old Sabrina Dunn of Templeton was crowned queen of the pageant.

An orientation meeting will be held March 9 at the Paso Robles Event Center, 2198 Riverside Road in Paso Robles. Applications are due April 4, with the pageant scheduled for July 15.
