Prep Roundup: Late goal gives Paso Robles girls water polo team thrilling win

Rees scores go-ahead goal with less than four minutes to play, lifts Bearcats to 7-6 road victory over Santa Ynez

Shannon Rees scored the go-ahead goal with less than four minutes to play, propelling the Paso Robles High girls water polo team to a 7-6 win Thursday at Santa Ynez.

At the 26-second mark, Paso Robles (11-12, 4-2 PAC 7) lost possession, and Santa Ynez had one last shot on goal, which was blocked by goalie Kelsey Lewis. Lewis had 12 saves.

Rees had three goals for the Bearcats, and Zoe Zeepp had two. Natalie Reeves and Makenna Pugh both had one.

Agoura 12, Arroyo Grande 7

The Eagles fell to the Chargers on the road.

Melanie Popovich netted three goals for Arroyo Grande (13-6), and Isabelle Manuele put in two more.

Alana Benson and Kayla Mankins split time in goal. Benson recorded three saves and Mankins two.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Mission Prep 77, Nipomo 64

Quinton Adlesh led the Royals with 21 points in their win over the Titans.

Adlesh scored 16 of his points for Mission Prep (19-4) in the second quarter. Evan Talbert had 13 points. Nipomo’s (4-17, 2-8) D.J. Sosa had 14 points with three 3-pointers.

Trevor Small had 13 points, five assists and four steals. Matt Ramsey had 11 rebounds and five assists.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mission Prep 50, Nipomo 23

The Royals’ defense held the Titans to six points in the second half.

Mission Prep (12-8) finished the game by outscoring Nipomo 21-4 in the fourth quarter.

I’Raya Smith led the Royals with 14 points, and Noelle Laird added 12. Taylor Neal scored 10.

Signey Aguilera had a team-high seven points for the Titans.

BOYS SOCCER

Lompoc at Templeton

The match between the Braves and Eagles was rescheduled for today at 3:30 p.m. because of rain.

Nipomo at Orcutt Academy

The Titans and Spartans canceled their match because of rain.

GIRLS SOCCER

Morro Bay 1, Santa Maria 0

Madelynn Martinez had 11 saves and preserved the shutout win for the Pirates.

Emma Hotaling scored the lone goal for Morro Bay (9-10-4, 3-4-3).
