Cuesta men's basketball team rallies to beat Hancock; women also win

After trailing by 19 points at halftime Wednesday, the Cuesta College men’s basketball team went on a run in the second half to come back and defeat Allan Hancock College 93-90.

With the win, the Cougars (16-9, 5-2) remain in first place in the Western State Conference-North Division. 

Oscar Pedroso led Cuesta with 37 points and also grabbed seven rebounds in playing the full 40 minutes. 

Valentin Bauer dished out eight assists, and Brett Hartshorne added 18 points for the Cougars. 

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Cuesta 78, Allan Hancock 46

The Cougars got off to a slow start, scoring just 25 points in the first half before scoring 53 in the second. 

Cuesta (19-6, 4-4 WSC-North) had five players score in double figures, and Miriam Zabinsky led the way with 17 points. 

Kaylee Williams (15 points), Katie Rodriguez (14), Melissa Lemus (10) and Jerrica Crosby (10) rounded out Cuesta’s top scorers. Lemus also had seven assists and six steals.
