Members of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Gang Task Force served search warrants at three homes in the North County Wednesday as part of a two-month investigation into alleged gang-related crimes.

At a residence in the 2800 block of Oak Street in Paso Robles, Jorge Cruz, 21, was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, with a gang enhancement, stemming from an assault in Atascadero in December.

Warrants also were served at a home in the 9300 block of Bocina Lane in Atascadero and a home in the 7800 block of Estrella Road in San Miguel. Juan Carlos Pacheco and Hector Ivan Lupercio-Chavez, both 18, of Paso Robles, were taken into custody. Pacheco was arrested on suspicion of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury with a gang enhancement; Lupercio-Chavez was taken into custody for violation of probation.

Detective Cmdr. Ron Hastie with the Sheriff’s Office said the county Gang Task Force is working with local agencies to combat growing gang activity directly associated with Norteño criminal street gangs. Crimes being investigated include discharge of firearms at vehicles and dwellings, assaults resulting in injury and property-related crimes.

As of Wednesday evening, Cruz remained in custody with bail set at $250,000. No information on Pacheco or Lupercio-Chavez was immediately available.
