At least one person is dead after a motor home fell 600 feet down a cliff on Highway 1 on Sunday, Cal Fire said.

Rescue teams accessed the motor home, which had fallen over a cliff about a half-mile south of Ragged Point sometime before 2:30 p.m., and discovered one body at the site, Cal Fire dispatch said.

The motor home was “destroyed on impact” and in pieces, dispatch said. Teams had to use rope and an alternative trail to access the wreckage.

As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, rescue units were looking for any survivors or other victims.
