Prep Roundup: Templeton tops Morro Bay in boys and girls soccer

Three second-half scores lifted Templeton High past rival Morro Bay, 3-1, Thursday night in boys soccer. 

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles (6-8-2, 3-2-2 Los Padres League) scored three straight goals before Daniel Ramirez buried a penalty kick in the final minute of the game for the Pirates (3-13, 1-6 LPL). 

Matt Mosher, Matt Jangaard and Austin Alarcon scored for Templeton, and Jeffery Hammond had two assists.

Santa Maria 3, Nipomo 2

Mike Arevalo tied the score with nine minutes remaining for Nipomo, but the Saints scored the winning goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time. 

Arevalo also assisted Nipomo’s first goal, which was scored by Jason Alvarado. 

Johann Ayala was in goal for the Titans (6-13, 1-6 LPL) and recorded eight saves.  

GIRLS SOCCER

Templeton 1, Morro Bay 0

Miriam Robles scored with five minutes remaining off a through ball from Courtney Elterman to lift the Eagles (6-12, 3-4 LPL). 

Sammy Schmidt had four saves for Templeton, and Madelyn Martinez had nine saves for the Pirates (7-9-2, 2-3-2).

Nipomo 6, Santa Maria 0

Vanessa Avila and Gracie Albano both scored twice for the Titans (8-8-2, 3-3-1 LPL). 

Tatiana Silva had a goal and an assist, and Alejandra Torres also scored fro Nipomo.

Goalkeeper Yocelyn Lopez made five saves in the shutout.

GIRLS WATER POLO

Atascadero 17, Nipomo 8

Emma Seitzer scored six goals, and Kylie Ferree had five to lead the Greyhounds (9-8) to the win.

Courtney McCarthy and Tori Comin both registered two goals. Lauren Giggy and Riley Brown split time in goal, making three and two saves, respectively.
