A 5K Color Blast Fun Run in San Luis Obispo is planned for Jan. 25 to benefit the Alex Cherry Maier Memorial Scholarship fund.

Maier was a San Luis Obispo High School senior who was killed in a car accident a year ago, after playing a high school soccer game. He was a standout player on the boys varsity team, and his death stunned the community.

The run will start at 10 a.m. at the San Luis Obispo High School stadium. Runners are provided with a white T-shirt to wear and then are doused in a variety of colors during the run.

Organizers are seeking participants, sponsors and volunteers. For information, call 458-8081 or visit http://slocolorblast.com.
