Carbon standard

President, League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo CountyJanuary 16, 2014

The Environmental Protection Agency has published a groundbreaking new proposal to create the first-ever federal carbon pollution standard for every new power plant built in America. This is a game changer for the climate because power plants are the single largest source of carbon pollution. The League of Women Voters supports this effort to reduce the deadly effects that carbon pollution has on the health of our children and our environment.

The public has 60 days to comment on the proposal. The League of Women Voters urges everyone to support this proposal by writing to the EPA at a-and-r-docket@epa.gov  . For more information on the League’s position, go to http://www.lwv.org.
