Delightful dad-daughter dog duo deserves doting

pettales@thetribunenews.comJanuary 15, 2014

Happy-go-lucky Bubba and Baby are dad and daughter. Both are boxer-pit bull mixes awaiting adoption at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter.

San Luis Obispo County Animal Services Shelter volunteer Ellen Perryess highlights father and daughter duo Baby and Bubba:

Baby and Bubba have unsinkable, positive attitudes: “Life is great; we’re lovable; nothing’s better than a walk ... a treat ... a snooze in the sun ... Well, OK, everything is the best!”

There’s just one catch. They don’t realize they’re homeless senior boxer-pit bull mixes that adopters pass by.

And though they’ve been sharing two kennels at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter since early November, they keep smiling. They’re either at the front of their kennel ready to meet-and-greet or curled up on a dog bed dreaming of fun.

Because, even though their muzzles are graying, they love going for walks; each outing appears to be the high point of their entire life. And if you have a treat — my goodness — life just got better. And once the thrill of being outside has passed, they know how to walk on a leash and to sit on command.

Being plus-or-minus 10 years old, their adoption potential is low, so goodhearted people have prepaid half their adoption fees: half-price for one, or adopt both and it’s a two-for-one deal. If two dogs sound great, but daunting, a free professional training session comes with the pair.

This father-daughter team are altered, house-broken and waiting for life to begin again.

Baby and Bubba know that life is a gift that you open daily. Adopt them, and they’ll share this gift with you.
