Genealogy seminar set for next month

The San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society will host an all-day seminar next month to help community members research their family roots.

As many as 300 people are expected to attend Genealogy NOW! on Feb. 1 in San Luis Obispo, Cheryl Storton, the group’s program chairwoman, said in a news release.

Speaking at this year’s seminar are Judy G. Russell, a lecturer, educator and writer known as “The Legal Genealogist”; Sharon Hoyt, a professional genealogy researcher; and Geoffrey Rasmussen, a presenter for the Legacy Family Tree webinar series.

Genealogy NOW! also features vendors and a raffle drawing.

The seminar will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 1 at San Luis United Methodist Church, 1515 Fredericks St. in San Luis Obispo.

The cost to register by Jan. 30 is $40 for genealogical society members or $50 for nonmembers; after Jan. 30, registration will cost $50 to $60.
