Truffles, the kidnapped bear, has returned to its home at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Paso Robles.

The stuffed 3-foot Kodiak teddy bear was found dumped in the bushes not far from the store, still tied to the wrought iron chair he’d been sitting in when he was swiped.

Other than obvious marks showing that he had been tied down, maybe in the getaway vehicle, the bear is in good condition, said Patricia Harden, store manager.

“We had hoped whoever took him would feel the heat and bring him back,” Harden said. “We are very elated at his return.”

The bear’s whereabouts for the last day remain a mystery. And the bear isn’t talking.

Employees of the nearby Red Scooter Deli found him early Thursday morning and left a note for Harden. The bear’s heroes are now feasting on the 10-pound candy bar that Harden offered as a reward.
