Morro Bay

A dinner event celebrating Morro Bay’s 50th anniversary will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Morro Bay Community Center.

“This is Your Life, Morro Bay” will honor community members who have played significant roles in the city’s history during the past five decades. Also at the dinner, the city’s 2013 citizen of the year, business of the year, and “living treasures” will be named.

Proceeds will help fund community projects such as the completion of the statue “For Those Who Wait” by Elizabeth MacQueen, which will be situated at the harbor entrance. It was commissioned by the Central Coast Women for Fisheries.

Funds will also help cover the planting of 50 cypress trees.

Tickets cost $50 per person and can be purchased by calling the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce at 772-4467. For information, go to Copyright 2014 The_Tribune. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
