Poly accomplishments

San Luis ObispoJanuary 6, 2014

Looking back on San Luis Obispo’s “Top stories of 2013,” indeed at No. 8 Cal Poly certainly did make the news. Rather than fraternity and dorm controversies, my list would have been slightly different. It would have included:

1. Cal Poly named among the top 50 in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance list of 100 Best Values in Public Colleges for 2014.

2. SLO and Cal Poly ranked No. 3 in Travel & Leisure’s list of the Nation’s Best College Towns.

3. Ranked Best in the West by US News & World Report for the 21st year and ranked ninth overall of the West’s best universities.

4. The College of Engineering ranked fourth best among public master’s programs; in undergraduate rankings, mechanical engineering ranked No. 2, civil and computer engineering No. 3 and electrical engineering No. 5.
