A  Huasna Valley man is homeless after a fire destroyed his home Monday on the 6000 block of Huasna Townsite Road.

A 1,500-square-foot residence and a vehicle were destroyed in the fire, which was reported at 7:17 a.m. A mobile home was also damaged, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Paul Lee said.

Huasna Valley is a remote area east of Pismo Beach. The home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

The man was not at home when the fire broke out. He returned to find all of his possessions destroyed.

The man’s name was not available, Lee said.

Investigators say they suspect the fire was caused by a stove that was left on. Damage is estimated to be $175,000.
