The federal budget deal is bizarre. It ignores the elephant in the room namely the defense budget. We continue to spend $900 billion per year on the military, which is more than the rest of the world combined. We keep thousands of troops in places like Germany, Japan and Korea why? We keep building multibillion-dollar supersonic planes to shoot down what or whom? We continue to build billion-dollar naval fleets. Why?
Meanwhile, we cut programs for the poor, the hungry, for education, for the sick and the unemployed and let the infrastructure crumble. We are in the clutches of the military-industrial complex that President Dwight Eisenhower warned us about.
Let your legislator know that you will not call him or her weak on defense, or uncaring about the troops, if they work to control this obscene military spending.
