Fire destroys mobile home in Los Osos

A fire destroyed an unoccupied mobile home and damaged a nearby vehicle in Los Osos on Sunday.

Cal Fire responded to a report of a single-wide mobile home on 1690 Valley View Drive “fully-engulfed in flames” shortly before 1 p.m.

When crews arrived, the mobile home was deemed a “complete loss,” but they continued to work to contain the fire, which had also spread to a nearby car and some vegetation, Cal Fire officials said.

The fire was contained by 3:45 p.m.

Damages totaled $45,000, including $20,000 for the structure, $15,000 for its contents and $10,000 for the vehicle.

Cal Fire officials did not have information on the whereabouts of the mobile home’s owner.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Update, 3:45 p.m.:

Cal Fire dispatch confirms the mobile home fire on Valley View Drive in Los Osos has been contained.

The full extent of damages will not be released until Monday, but according to dispatch, the single-wide trailer involved in the fire was deemed a "complete loss," and there was some damage to a nearby car.

Cal Fire dispatch did not have information on whether the structure was inhabited at the time of the fire, or its owner's whereabouts.

Local fire authorities were on the scene of a mobile home fire in Los Osos that spread to nearby vegetation Sunday afternoon.

Cal Fire was notified shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday of a single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames at 1690 Valley View Drive, dispatch said.

As of 2:14 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire was not out, and the flames have spread to nearby vegetation, which includes grass and oak trees. The size of the vegetation fire was not available.

Four engines and a water-tender were on scene, and an investigator was en route.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
