Police see quiet New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve revelers were mostly law abiding around San Luis Obispo County, authorities said.

“It was busy but an expected busy,” said San Luis Obispo police Sgt. Sean Gillham. “Downtown was packed.”

Three people were arrested for public intoxication, two drivers were arrested for DUI and “there were a handful of assaults,” Gillham said, but the activity was about the same as a typical Saturday night.

“It was busy for a Tuesday night,” he said.

Officials with other police departments around the county reported much the same experience for New Year’s Eve: a few minor arrests, but nothing out of the ordinary.
