The city of Pismo Beach has established a fund to help pay for the planning, maintenance and improvement of the Chapman Estate.

On Dec. 3, the Pismo Beach City Council voted unanimously to accept the Chapman Estate, which is valued at nearly $17 million, as a gift from the late Clifford Chapman.

The 1.5-acre oceanfront estate, at 1243 Ocean Blvd., becomes city property on Dec. 31.

Establishment of the Chapman Estate fund allows supporters to make donations that will be used by the city solely for the estate, according to a city news release.

Tax-deductable donations can be made to the City of Pismo Beach, 760 Mattie Road, 93449; donors are instructed to write “Chapman Estate Fund Donation” in the memo.
