Cuesta men's basketball team drops tourney semifinal to Sierra

Pedroso scores 23 points, but turnovers plague Cougars late in 86-77 loss

Cuesta College’s men’s basketball team turned the ball over on four consecutive possessions in the final three minutes on its way to an 86-77 loss to Sierra in the semifinals of the San Joaquin Delta tourney Saturday night in Stockton.

Oscar Pedroso led Cuesta (7-6) with 23 points and five rebounds. Alex Igual had 13 points and five assists, Brett Hartshorne scored 11, Valentin Bauer scored 10 and Kyle Geer had seven points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars, who will play Butte in the third-place game at 2 p.m. today.
