Packages delivered to Morro Bay homes stolen, police say

Morro Bay police said several packages delivered to homes and left on front porches were stolen last weekend.

The thieves probably followed delivery trucks along their routes and stole the packages after they were left at homes on Piney Way, Monterey Avenue and Fir Avenue, police Sgt. Dave Berganziel said.

No suspects have been identified in the thefts that occurred over a three-day period from Dec. 13-16.

Police suggested that shoppers buying online should track the delivery using tracking numbers provided by shipping companies and the post office, so that someone can plan to be home when the package arrives. Packages also can be delivered to an alternate location or kept at the delivery center upon request, police said.
