The CEO of Morro Bay’s Chamber of Commerce is stepping down and the position of the chamber’s business liaison also is being eliminated.

Craig Schmidt, the chamber’s CEO for the past three years, has announced his resignation effective Jan. 1. And business liaison Hank Roth is leaving the chamber as well effective Jan. 1. Roth’s position will be cut, chamber officials announced in a press release.

Roth has worked full-time with the chamber for the past year and part-time during the year prior.

The chamber’s statement said it’s undergoing a “process of re-visioning” and a re-structuring.

“The Board of Directors has determined that a reduction in workforce is necessary at this time to provide for the continued viability of the Chamber,” chamber officials said in the statement.

Roth said by phone Monday that “it has been a pleasure to serve the businesses of Morro Bay.”
