Cal Poly was ranked among the top 50 in the country for having the best value for a public college in Kiplinger’s latest personal-finance list.

Cal Poly was ranked No. 43 for in-state and No. 34 for out-of-state public colleges with the best value.

Criteria used to evaluate the universities included four-year graduation rates, student debt at graduation, and financial aid packages.

The list included the top 100 colleges of more than 600 assessed nationwide.

In addition to Cal Poly, three other Cal State universities made the list: San Diego State, Cal State Long Beach and Cal Poly Pomona. Eight University of California campuses were also included.
