The San Miguel School District Board of Trustees meets Thursday at Lillian Larsen School Library. The public session begins at 7 p.m.
Lots of food collected
The annual Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive held by students at Lillian Larsen School collected 1,321 cans of food. The drive was coordinated by the student council with assistance from teachers Holly Moore and Micaela Pepple.
The food will be distributed to San Miguel families through local churches.
'Lucky calendar' still for sale
The Native Sons of the Golden West are still selling their "Lucky Calendars" for 2014. Calendars are $25 but you get many chances all year to win money. On New Years Day the initial drawing is for $1,000. A drawing is held daily: Sunday through Thursday for $25 and each Friday for $100. To get your calendar, call James King at 467-0062. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the San Miguel CSD office, 1150 Mission St.
Meet local officials
A holiday gathering to meet and speak with 1st District Supervisor Frank Mecham, 5th District Supervisor Debbie Arnold and State Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian will be held Dec. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Templeton Community Services District, 420 Crocker St. in Templeton. Optional donations of canned food for the county Food Bank will be accepted.
Elkhorn has new owners
The Elkhorn has reopened under new ownership. Marty and Shiela Elisarraras, who own The Ranch, purchased the historic saloon; it is open daily from 10 a.m. serving beer and wine. Closing hours are 10 p.m. on Sunday through Tuesday; midnight on Wednesday and Thursday; 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
