The Fitting Image in SLO moves to new location

San Luis Obispo - The TribuneDecember 6, 2013

The Fitting Image, an alternations business in San Luis Obispo for 22 years, has moved from the Laurel Lane Shopping Center to 3000 Broad Street, next to Staples.

The store, which employs 13 people, offers a wide range of alterations, tailoring, restyling, resizing, repairing and mending – from wedding gowns to camping tents, fine leather to surfboard bags and wetsuits.

Kitty Williams, who owns the business with her husband Gary, said they’ve developed a niche in expanding beyond regular clothing alterations to become a “soft goods repair shop,’’ including heavier and unusual items such as purses, suitcases, horse blankets, belts and sleeping bags.

In the last eight to 10 years, but especially since 2008, she said, an increasing number of consumers want to repair all kinds of items. That has resulted in growth for her business, Williams said, as “we’ve increased in our knowledge and are willing to try things out of the ordinary.’’

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Wednesdays until 7 p.m. For more information, go to www.TFIslo.com.
