The Coast Union girls varsity soccer team defeated a group of alumni players 4-1 on Saturday, Nov. 30, in a fundraiser event on campus that featured tacos, some good ball control, and a “fun time” for all, according to varsity coach Tamara Corbet.

On the boys side, the current Coast Union varsity tied with an alumni team, 3-3.
Corbet said the girls’ goals were scored by Cristina Plasencia, Remy Corbet, Paulina Torres and Alejandra Becerra.

The high school soccer programs raised about $1,500 from the event. The funds will be used to pay for overnight costs for both the boys and girls programs as they attend an upcoming tournament, Corbet explained. Also, the money will be used to buy new equipment for both soccer programs.

The girl’s soccer team opens its season at home at 3:30 p.m. today, Dec. 5, in a home match against St. Joseph.
