CAL POLY ROUNDUP: Honors for women's soccer

sports@thetribunenews.comDecember 4, 2013

Three Mustang soccer players were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association All-West Region Team.

Cal Poly forward Elise Krieghoff was the only sophomore to be given first-team honors. Krieghoff led the nation with 21 goals and broke the school record this past season.

Midfielder Haley Walker and defender Cristina Farrington, both seniors, were chosen for the second-team.

Walker helped setup the Big West’s top scoring attack and Farrington led the Mustangs on defense to seven shutouts this season.

Mustangs lead for Commissioner’s Cup

The season results from the Cal Poly cross country, soccer and volleyball teams combined to put the Mustangs atop the leaderboard for the Big West Commissioner’s Cup.

Cal Poly averaged a score of 148 points, ahead of UC Santa Barbara 131.3.

The Commissioner’s Cup will be awarded at the end of the spring season.
