The Central Coast’s first drive-through Panera Bread will open Thursday with a special fundraiser event featuring the Arroyo Grande High School football team and franchise co-owner and former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson.

Johnson and the team will order the first meal from the drive-through at 6 p.m. As part of its opening, the 3,850-square-foot bakery-café, located at 1390 W. Branch St., will also donate all the proceeds from the sales of its Christmas tree cookies to the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County until Dec. 24.

The restaurant will open to the public Friday.

There is one other Panera Bread location in San Luis Obispo County, located at 299 Madonna Road in San Luis Obispo. Johnson owns it as well.
