A worthy cause

Director, Five Cities Meals on WheelsDecember 1, 2013

Started by a dedicated group of locals in 1975 and serving continuously since then, Five Cities Meals on Wheels works year-round to help residents of our county.

We are an independent, local nonprofit, delivering daily hot meals to residents of all ages in the Five Cities area who need a hand with regular meals.

We serve about 2,000 meals a month, delivered by our dedicated volunteers.

As with many of the wonderful organizations serving our area, funds are always an issue. Local support for our efforts is very gratifying. Our recent festive Barbecue at the Victorian fundraiser, Keep the Wheels Rolling, was supported by area businesses, organizations and donors, for which many thanks. Our holiday appeal was in The Tribune on Saturday, and we hope those who are able will support our program by returning the envelope with any size donation that fits. Our “wish list” is also available at 773-2053. Thank you for considering this community effort and look for the envelope for Five Cities Meals on Wheels in your Tribune.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
