Salvaging for profit

Los OsosDecember 1, 2013

Politics are tricky, and things are seldom what they seem.

With desalination plants, it isn’t about water, it’s about building them “piggy back” on the seawater cooling intakes in a last-ditch effort by the energy industry to avoid costly environmental upgrades.

And with the Salvage Logging bill authored by Tom McClintock, it’s not about salvage so much as it is about logging. The writing on the wall is clear enough; if you want to log a forest and can’t get access, this bill will allow logging companies to put a match to a forest and then log it for profit: arson-for-profit.
