Authorities are looking for the owner of a pickup that was found engulfed in flames in a rural area of Oceano on Sunday morning.

About 6:25 a.m., Five Cites Fire Authority and Cal Fire responded to a farming access road just off Halcyon Road, south of Highway 1, according to a news release.

Crews arrived to find an older-model Dodge pickup and the contents of the truck bed burning.

A number of small “explosion-like” flare-ups from the contents of the vehicle caused the fire to spread to a small patch of nearby vegetation, but it was quickly doused, according to the release.

As of 2 p.m., the contents of the truck bed had not been identified, and the owner of the truck has not been found, according to a Cal Fire dispatch.

The CHP also responded to the site about 30 minutes after the initial fire response.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
