Letter to the Editor

Selective lying

Los OsosNovember 24, 2013

The letter to the editor from T. Keith Gurnee on Nov. 19 was interesting in his personal selection and judgement of U.S. presidents about lying and what he thought the message to our children would be.

Never mind that the George Washington cherry tree story he refers to on how our first president fessed up to a lie is anecdotal, and it’s likely that the children of today have never heard it.

He cites Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama as liars, but he totally forgot Ronald “I-did-not-trade-weapons-for-hostages” Reagan and George W. “Weapons-of-mass-destruction” Bush.

Think his political message spoke louder than his ethics message?
