The Mission Prep football team continued its run of dominance in the CIF-Southern Section Northeast Division on Friday, cruising by St. Genevieve 41-16 in the second round.

The Royals (10-2) rode star running back Patrick Laird to victory once again as he totaled 319 rushing yards and accounted for the first four touchdowns of the game on three runs and a reception from quarterback Patrick Miller, who also ran for a 13-yard score.

The game was out of reach at halftime, with Mission Prep leading 27-0. Both of the St. Genevieve touchdowns came against Mission Prep’s backups. The Royals’ starting

defense was stifling, forcing seven punts and not surrendering any points.

St. Genevieve got a safety when Mission Prep snapped a ball out of its end zone on a punt in the third quarter.
