Legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy is coming to San Luis Obispo.

The Grammy Award-nominated group, whose members include Chuck D, Flavor Flav and Professor Griff, will perform Dec. 20 at SLO Brewing Co., 1119 Garden St. in San Luis Obispo.

Known for their politically charged yet poetic lyrics and innovative, explosive sound, Public Enemy set the standard for socially conscious rap starting in the late 1980s. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Public Enemy’s hits include “Don’t Believe the Hype,” “Give It Up” and “Fight the Power,” featured in Spike Lee’s 1989 film “Do the Right Thing.”

Tickets for the Dec. 20 show, which cost $40 in advance and $45 at the door, go on sale Thursday.
