Weather forecast for the week of Nov. 18

Special to The TribuneNovember 18, 2013

Here is this week’s weather forecast by PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey.

Weather report

This morning’s patchy low clouds along beaches and coastal valleys combined with areas of fog in the North County will clear later this morning. Partly to mostly sunny conditions will develop this afternoon. Today’s maximum temperatures will be cool, with most of the county only reaching the low 60s.

Tonight will be mostly clear with some low clouds possibly forming near the coast again with overnight temperatures similar or slightly warmer than last night. Little change in this weather pattern is expected through Tuesday.

A cold front is expected to pass through Northern California later Tuesday. This cold front will weaken as it moves down the coast. As this front passes over San Luis Obispo County on Wednesday, it will produce increasing clouds, sprinkles or light rain showers. A few light rain showers may linger into early Thursday morning. Rainfall amounts will only be a few hundredths of an inch. Winds with this this system will generally be gentle to moderate (8- to 18-mph).

Fair and dry weather returns by Thursday afternoon . Gentle to moderate (8- to 18-mph) and at time gusty Santa Lucia (offshore) winds will develop Friday and Saturday morning. These winds will produce mostly clear and dry weather with relatively mild conditions. Next week looks dry.

Today’s surf report

At this time, there are no significant storms in the northern Pacific to produce any long-period swell trains through this week.

Today’s 3- to 5-foot northwesterly (310-degree deep-water) swell (with an 8- to 11-second) will decrease to 2 to 4 feet with the same period Tuesday. A 3- to 5-foot northwesterly (305-degree deep-water) swell (with an 8- to 12-second) is forecast Wednesday and will remain at this height and period through Friday.

Seawater temperatures

Seawater temperatures will range between 56 and 58 degrees through Sunday.
