Cal Poly wrestler Schneider wins tournament title

Schneider claims 157-pound championship, leads eight Mustangs to place at Roadrunner Open

Cal Poly wrestler Maxamillian Schneider won the 157-pound title, and seven other Mustangs placed at the Roadrunner Open on Sunday at Selland Arena in Fresno.

The Mustangs finished fourth as a team.

Schneider went 5-0 with three pins, a decision and a major decision to claim the title.

Cal Poly heavyweight Spencer Empey finished second with a 3-1 record. Also second for the Mustangs was Blake Kastl (149).

Cal Poly’s Sean Dougherty placed fourth at 184 pounds, and Colt Shorts was fifth at 141.

The Mustangs’ Britain Longmire (125), Kyle Chené (149) and Dominic Kastl (174) each placed sixth.
