Simple solution

Los OsosNovember 13, 2013

Thank you for printing the well-reasoned viewpoint by Paul Rinzler and the instructive commentary by Alan Brownstein and Lanae Erickson Hatalsky regarding prayer at public meetings.

It occurs to me that a simple solution for governmental groups like the Pismo Beach City Council would be to have a short period of silence before the meeting. During the silence, those attending can pray, meditate, read or engage in any other quiet activity they wish. It will be interesting to see what the Supreme Court decides about this thorny issue.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
