Prescribed burn set for today northeast of Pozo

San Luis Obispo - The TribuneNovember 10, 2013

A prescribed burn originally  scheduled for this past Friday in northern San Luis Obispo County will now take place today, according to Cal Fire.

Friday’s burn was postponed because the Toro wildfire was burning that day.

Cal Fire and local ranchers will conduct the 400-acre burn from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will take place nine miles northeast of Pozo and 12 miles northwest of California Valley, according to a Cal Fire news release.

Eight fire engines, four hand crews, two bulldozers and one helicopter will be assigned to the burn.

The burn is being conducted as part of the Cal Fire Vegetation Management Program to reduce hazardous vegetation in areas prone to wildfires, according to the release.

Traffic along Pozo Road three to five miles southwest of Highway 58 may be delayed during active burning, Cal Fire said.
