A concert on the sand, featuring indie act Matt Costa and several other groups, will benefit the Cayucos Pier on Saturday.

SLO Brew, which is putting on the event, will set up a stage on the Cayucos Pier and sound will be projected to the beach below. The free concert, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will benefit the pier and Front Street repairs.

Performing acts include Joe Koenig, The Julian Temple Band, the Cayucos Elementary School Steel Drum Band, Makana, Cayucas, and Costa. During the event, Front Street will be closed for additional performances, food, art, beer and wine concessions.

The pier, built in 1876, is missing 14 critical pilings and could be condemned with the oncoming winter’s pounding surf. An estimated $2 million in repairs are needed. The pier is currently partially closed to the public due to the structural damage.
