Cougars standout wins 141-pound title at tourney hosted by San Francisco State

Cuesta College wrestler Julian Purdy went 3-0 on his way to the 141-pound title Sunday at the 21-and-under JC/College Open hosted by San Francisco State.

The Cougars also had Jovan Villalobos (174) place second, and John Sinclair (165) took fifth.

Poly women’s tennis players shine

Cal Poly’s Kathryn Webb, Anna Klavins and Chanel Scudiero each earned singles victories at the Bulldog Classic hosted by Fresno State to help the Mustangs end their fall schedule on a high note Sunday.

Webb won 6-4, 6-3 over Fresno State’s Sofya Malysheva, Klavins rallied to down Fresno City College’s Maya Mammetgulyyeva, 2-6, 6-2, 10-4, and Scudiero won 6-7, 6-1, 10-5 over Oregon’s Lena Macomson.
