Running back Tristan Collins ran for 351 yards on 29 carries for the Pirates, breaking the Morro Bay single-game rushing record of 307 yards Friday night in a 42-28 home victory over Santa Maria.

Collins also scored five of the Pirates’ six touchdowns, which ties the school record for touchdowns in a game.

“I am pleased with the offensive line play,” coach Jack Greer said. “We had Tristan going for a school record at 351, and it starts up front.”

Morro Bay (6-3, 4-1 Los Padres League) finished with 423 total rushing yards and 9 yards passing, all of which came on a catch by Collins from quarterback Isaac Manuputy.

Cornerback Elijah Garcia had one interception and two pass breakups, and defensive lineman Adrian Astorga had one sack and two tackles for loss.
