Prep Roundup: Arroyo Grande completes perfect PAC 7 girls volleyball season

The Arroyo Grande High girls volleyball team swept Paso Robles 25-14, 25-21, 25-18 in Arroyo Grande on Thursday to complete an undefeated PAC 7 season.

Ashlyn Herlihy had 10 kills and five blocks, and Alaina Hogeboom had 27 assists and two aces for the Eagles (20-8, 12-0). Megan McGuigan, Arroyo Grande’s only senior, had eight kills, two blocks and two aces. Kacee Fox had 21 digs.

Morgan Lawson led Paso Robles (1-10 PAC 7) with eight kills, two aces and two blocks. 

Maddie Chase had six kills, three aces and three digs, and Kailey Warren had five kills and three digs. Chloe Kerns had 20 assists, two aces and four digs.

San Luis Obispo 3, St. Joseph 1

The Tigers won on the road 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19. 

Holland Boege had 18 kills, Anna Pedersen had 15 kills, and Molly Maguire added eight kills. Cambria Joyce tacked on 46 assists for San Luis Obispo (17-9, 7-4 PAC 7).

Nipomo 3, Lompoc 0

The Titans (11-9, 8-3 Los Padres League) swept the Braves on the road 25-23, 27-25, 25-21.


PAC 7 Preliminaries

Three Arroyo Grande singles players advanced to today’s semifinals at Paso Robles High.

Two Eagles doubles teams and one San Luis Obispo duo will make up the doubles semifinal field. 

Arroyo Grande’s Sophie Whittle, the top-seeded singles player, won her matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0; teammate Lauren Hayashi, the second-seeded player, won 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0; and Melina Rodgers, seeded fifth, won 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-2. 

Claire Bouquet, the third-seeded player from St. Joseph, won 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-1. 

Whittle will face Rodgers and Hayashi will face Bouquet in the semifinal. 

In doubles, San Luis Obispo’s second-seeded duo of Lauren Hutkin and Caroline Burke won 6-1, 7-5 and 6-2, 6-4. 

Arroyo Grande’s Joanne Phung and Angelica Gagliano, seeded No. 3, won 6-4, 6-2 and 

6-1, 6-2 and the Eagles’ fourth-seeded tandem of Olivia Madison and Mekayla Landers won 6-0, 1-6, (10-3) and 6-0, 1-6 (10-8). 

Top-seeded Annette Sousa and Gabi Pereverziev  of Righetti won 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2. 

Hutkin and Burke will face Phung and Gagliano in the semifinals. Madison and Landers face Sousa and Pereverziev.

The semifinals will start at 10 a.m. today, and the finals will take place about noon.
