UPDATE: Margaret West, 87, was found at the Amtrak train station in San Luis Obispo at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sheriff's Office spokesman Tony Cipolla said. West has Alzheimer's disease and was the subject of an intensive search after she went missing from her home in Los Osos at about 5:15 p.m.

"Somehow she was able to make it to the Amtrak station," Cipolla said. "Whether someone gave her a ride or she took a city bus, we don't know yet. She's safe and sound, which is good news."

About 70 deputies and volunteers, as well as a CHP helicopter, took part in the search, he said.
